Not quite a vest, not quite a breastplate! This armor/garment/accessory covers the upper part of the chest and leaves the midriff open for maximum comfort and maneuverability. It is laced down the sides and has buckles or ties in front, resulting in a highly customizable fit. A short collar adds flair to the piece.

  • Made from 8-9 oz. veg-tan cow leather.
  • Ringmail sleeves or pauldrons can be added.
  • Can be worn open or closed.
  • Fits T-shirt sizes M to XL, approximately. The petite fit is for T-shirt sizes XS to M.
  • Many more designs are possible.
  • Flesh side is stained black. Wear it over dark colors for the first few outings in case there is color transfer.

Custom Requests

I suggest you get in contact with me before you make this purchase. The versatile nature of this breastplate means there are a lot of factors to consider. The central design is the most obvious one, but there are also tooled designs on the pauldrons and back, borders, etc. I also have payment plans available.
​Every execution of a design is a little different. If you'd like, you can have control over these details. For breastplates, this includes the border stamp and small variations in the design. You could opt to have cross-hatching in the body of your Norse dragon instead of dots, for example. Please keep in mind that this is only for small details--if you need me to alter the pattern or redraw parts of a design, I'll be happy to do so, but I will have to set up a custom listing for you so please send me a message first.

Color

Why does blue cost more? All of my stains are a one-step antique process except for blue, which is two steps. For this reason, all custom work that uses my blue stain has an additional charge.
If you want your armor to really pop, you can pick a secondary color as well, which means that the design and border will be a different color from the base. It is usually painted, allowing for a huge range of colors, including metallics and white. If you want a color not listed, or a specific shade, include that in the custom requests box.​
Please note that the color of your piece might vary slightly from the featured swatches due to the variance of both screens and leather. The brighter colors (green, purple, and blue) have greater variation than the browns and black.
